Untitled...

She stopped in front of the picture
Abandoned in the dark corner.
Staring at it,
Rooted at the very spot.
A feeble ache in her heart,
Growing stronger...
Spreading with each passing second.
The swirling colours,
Calling out to her soul
Beckoning her close...
How inexplicable, how incomprehensible;
Destroying the walls of logic
Opening the flood-gates of ne'er experienced emotions

How do you explain the sweetness of sorrow
The magnetism of heartbreaking melancholy
The touch that burns you,
Tears you apart
Yet unable to stop
Caught in the spell of its destructive beauty
Is it what draws the moths to the fire?

She stood there wanting
Wishing for the undefinable
Aching for it...
How she wished she knew
How she wished she understood
And how she craved it...

................................................................

She could hear the voices,
Drifting towards her
From the world outside her room,
Her white washed stark sanctuary;
She lay in the bed
A smile playing on her lips
Staring at the ceiling as always
Her window to the unseen...
She just had to close her eyes
To see that picture...
To feel its drugging effect.
They called her mad, disturbed.
Little did they know
That she now knew the answer...

'What draws the moths to the flame';

My favourite songs: Part I

I love music...whether it's singing (kahi bhi, kabhi bhi :P), or listening (my earphones and my ears are almost inseparable)...and was just too happy when got tagged by hitchwriter to prepare a list of my 10 favourite slow, melodious and soulful songs in any 2 languages...

Had thought "big deal...will hardly take time".

Believe it or not it took me almost 2 hours to come up with this list...phew...and after all those dilemmas of 'should I include this? But then I should also include that one too', and what-nots...am finally done :D!

Made a list of my favourite songs, 10 each in Hindi and English.

So here it goes. I'll start with Hindi first.

1. Pehla nasha (jo jeeta wohi sikandar) : This has remained my 'all time favourite', 'ever fresh' romantic hindi song...

2. Saiyan (Jhoomo Re, Kailash Kher) : The lyrics, the music and of course kailash kher himself is simply awsome in this.

3. Bin tere (Woh lamhe) : I am in love the wordings of this one...

4. Kehna hi kya (Bombay) : Love all the songs from this movie...especially this one...

5. Nahi saamne (Taal) : Have goosebumps when I listen to this...Hariharan is simply fab...Though love all the other songs from Taal, this one tops the list!

6. Maa tujhe salaam (Vande Mataram, A R Rehman) : Perhaps the best composition till now by A R Rehman...

7. Yeh hausla (Dor) : Couldn't find a youtube link to this one :(...finally found a download link...

8. Tere bina (Guru) : Again an A R Rehman song...

9. O re piya (Aaja nachle) : Had been hooked to this one the first time I heard...

10. Krishna (Colonial cousins) : Finally the end of the list...a fusion...love the wordings...

Also wanted to include many more...the songs of 'Jab we met', especially 'Aoge jab tum'...then 'In dino' from 'Metro'...'Jaane kya chahe man' from 'Pyar ke side effects'...'gori tore nain' from 'Rules'...I guess the list will just go on and on :)

The english list coming up in next post :D.

Cheers!
